This is my painting year (March 31, 2018 - March 31, 2019), I know. I'm just posting photos of two medallions that my spiritual son gave me. He gave me permission to post them tonight.
This is a Haring Bakal medallion (the center crucifix only). It is a medallion from Italy, the kind that you can buy at stores that sell religious items, but its original owner subjected it to "testingan" on a Good Friday (a traditional activity); the bullet hit the medallion but simply bounced off it. Whether this is true or not I have no idea--I wasn't there--but the original owner cherished it so much that he had it set in a quadrant of four different kinds of Philippine wood with brass inlay.
Back of medallion, with a crude depiction of the Holy Trinity
An original Tomas Nazaire (also known as Tommy and as Mang Tomas, deceased) of Cavite. He produced less than a hundred pieces in his entire lifetime. The front depicts the Holy Trinity. Many Philippine talismans make use of Catholic imagery.
The back of the medallion depicts the coronation of the Blessed Virgin. Philippine talismans typically have a masculine side and a feminine side for "balance".
